Week in Review - Wk 8

This week was fairly ordinary, as far as my life goes.  It's been bitterly cold, so that means lots of hibernation, warm food and tea, and movie nights with the girls.

I'm still shocked that I've been keeping up with the photo a day thing.  It's been almost 2 full months!  Coupled with a full time job and an intense theatre schedule, I'm shocked that this is the thing I've kept up with (pretty much everything else I've tried to do has gone by the wayside).

Without further ado, here is my week in photos.  I actually really like the photos this week. They wouldn't win any awards, but they're fun and I had a good time trying to be creative.

Feb 16: From Where I Stand
Again, I had a fantastic photo in mind from my vantage point from the stage during a rehearsal this night... but I should know better than that by now.  I just never even think about that once I'm there... too many other things going on.  Instead, I got a photo of "where I sit" in a bubble bath after coming in from the icy cold night.  Our theatre is a 100 year old carriage house, so it's not insulated very well, so I am quite ready for warmth and comfort when I come home.

Feb 17: Routine
Oh my!  I hate to say that this is a routine for me, but I do like to have a drink in the evening after a long, tough day.  It's not always something this strong, but tonight just felt like an Ole Smoky kind of night.

Feb 18: Bedside
Oh boy... another drink photo.  I guess this is just evidence of the routine in my day.  I mixed a little wine with tart cherry juice tonight, because apparently tart cherry juice helps you sleep.  I think it worked because I slept like a log!

Feb 19: Fresh
As a single woman living on her own and always being on the go, I don't really keep a lot of fresh food in the house.  I do eat organic as much as possible, but I freeze a lot of things.  These little "Cuties" are as close to fresh as I get these days.

Feb 20: This is So Me!
I'll be honest, this prompt gave me a lot of trouble.  It's not that I don't know who I am, but I'm not sure who I am can be captured in a photo.  I was going to take a photo of me looking frazzled, as I frantically ran around picking up my house before a few friends came over for a movie last night, but when I took this photo in a mirror by my door that has a dandilion printed on it, I really liked it. This is me.  I love flowers.  I love funky clothing.  I love taking pictures and I love to smile.

Feb 21: Matching
Burning candles just seems like what you should do in the winter.  Am I right?

Feb 22: Macro
I'm not sure if this is really considered macro, but I liked the ways I got some really good detail on the fabric flowers and also the blurry background, which is kind of hard for me to get with my little "bridge" camera.

So there you have it.  Week 8 in the books!  Week 9 is going to be nuts.  I have to learn how to "do hair" this week for the play I'm in and then the trick will be blocking it out so that it takes an entire scene to do a hairstyle.  I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty nervous about it.  My hair is the same way pretty much every day.  I cannot do hair to save my life.  We'll see if this beautician can teach me without wanting to slap me silly.  Wish me luck!

Week in Review - Week 7

I'm still going strong on the FMS Photo a Day challenge.  I can't believe I've actually been able to take a new photo every day this year.  I'm super impressed with myself. :-P

Today, I'm working on making sure I know my lines before rehearsal tonight, as it's getting to that point where we're going to start leaving our scripts on the chairs while we're onstage.  YIKES!  This is always the point in a show where I start to get some heart palpitations, but I'm also amazed at how much the brain can retain.

So, while I'm reading and memorizing until my head explodes, enjoy my Week 7 in pictures.

February 9: Energy
My energy level is low until I get a taste of this stuff in the morning.  Yum!

February 10: This Inspires Me
This prompt confused me for awhile, but when I came home and saw these dishes in the sink, it inspired me to tidy up my house.

Feb. 11: On the Wall
I see this lovely photo from the black sand beach in Maui every morning when I wake up.  Warmer weather is around the corner, I just know it!

February 12: Pointy
This is my favorite picture from the week.  I love color!

February 13: Temptation
The temptation to stay in bed was strong this morning... it was cold, the office environment leaves lots to be desired recently, and I was not feeling the greatest... should have gave in to temptation.

February 14: Love
I don't do Valentine's Day, but my mom found this adorable clutch that she gave me as a Valentine's gift.  A girlfriend of mine also sent me a card!  That was so nice and made me feel very loved.

February 15: Spot
I was writing down my lines last night, and my cat decided to claim the papers as her spot.  Not very helpful, darling.

Week in Review - Week 6

Eek!  I just now realized I never uploaded my Week 6 photos.  This wasn't my most photographically wonderful week so far, but I've decided they can't all be winners.  However, there are some really nice ones in here that I like a lot, and also just a lot of good memories, and that's what it's all about.

Feb. 2 - Mail
I received two recent "happy mail" surprises this week.  One was a photo order, so I knew that one was coming, but the other was the DVD of the most recent show I did, and that one was a total surprise!  Love it!

Feb. 3 - Water
I really ended up loving this shot.  We got a lot of snow and ice this week, and there were little holes and humps all over my yard.  What better for a water picture in the winter than snow!

Feb. 4 - Reward
What's better than a giant cookie for a reward after a long, hard day at work?

Feb. 5 - Something Blue
This one was going to be hard, but then when I sat down to drink my morning coffee and turn on the news, this happened.  I realized I should capture it, because it is something that happens quite frequently, for some frustrating reason.  I don't know why my TV won't connect right away, but I always have to set down my mug and get up to reset the TV... first world problems!

Feb. 6 - Makes Me Smile
I had every intention of taking a photo of my play practice this night, but it didn't really work out in the end.  Play practices make me extremely happy (depending on the show), but what makes me smile more than anything is seeing my front door at the end of a long day.

Feb. 7 - Stripes
Striped leg warmers and striped socks that don't match in anyway way.  Yeah, I'm stylin'!

Also in the striped category is this pic of the stage lighting for the recent Garth Brooks show I attended last night.  Again, not technically perfect (cell phone pic, after all), but I thought it was kind of neat anyway.

Feb. 8 - In My Bag
My parents and I have started going bowling a few times a month.  My goal is to eventually beat my high score of 150, but today was not that day... Oh well!  They can't all be winners.

It's starting to get really busy around here with the play, so a lot of my challenges that I had tried to keep up with have fallen by the wayside.  So far, though, I've been keeping up with with the FMS Photo-a-Day challenge.  That's one that I really want to do, so I'm trying!

Resolution Update

Hi everyone!  Happy February!  I wanted to write a little update since we are one month into the new year.  As most people do, at the beginning of the year, I came up with some resolutions for 2015.  My resolutions are more like goals this year, because I'm not saying, "I resolve to never do this again," or "I resolve to change this about myself."  If I think of them in terms of goals, they don't seem quite so harsh and scary, I guess.

So anyway, here is another look at my resolutions/goals for 2015.

So, how is it going, you might ask?  Let's do a rundown, shall we?

1. Finish 2013-2014 Project Life Album:  This one isn't fully completed yet, but I'm making excellent progress.  I've printed out a bunch of photos for 2014.  I got some page protectors and stuck my memorabilia for those different sections into the album so that when I'm ready to do that page, I can just pull everything out and not have to search for things.  I am close to being completely finished with 2013.  I finally did a page from my Europe trip (which is out of order in the album so I may have to switch some things around later... if I care that much.)  All in all, this is probably the goal I'm most proud of so far.

2. Work on 2nd novel:  This one isn't going quite so well... so far, I have only succeeded in printing out the pages that I had previously written oh so long ago.  I'm not sure when I'll get time to actually work on this one, but I'm hoping to not put it off for another year.  I'll probably have to re-read my 1st novel to remember what I wrote!

3 & 4.  Take at least 1 photo a week and blog at least once a week:  I am actually participating in a Photo-A-Day challenge and I'm hoping to keep up with it... but this next week is going to be a killer with my theatre/social calendar, so I'm thinking if I mess up, it'll be this week.  I also have been keeping up with a blog a week because I've been posting all my photos on Sunday from the previous week, so this goal has been a surprising success.

5. Exercise 1 day a week:  This one wasn't going so well for the first month, I'll admit.  I just couldn't get my mojo back.  I have started to feel really flabby and just knew I wasn't eating really well on top of not exercising at all.  I was doing plenty of running around and I wasn't really gaining weight, but I just felt... blah.  So just yesterday, I decided to print out some 30 Day Challenges and make myself do a little mini-workout every morning before I popped in the shower.  I just feel I need to tone up, not necessarily lose weight.  I'm doing push-ups (girl ones right now.  I'll work up to regular push-ups later), crunches (I HATE crunches), squats and planks.  It's probably only a 10 minute workout at the most, but it gets my heart rate up, and that's all that matters.

All in all, I haven't been doing too badly with these resolutions this year.  I'm not going to do a monthly update on these, but I will periodically check in, show you my progress and possibly what I'm doing to stay on track with these goals.  I've also added reading the Bible in one year to my list of unofficial goals.  Up until now, it hasn't been much of a struggle, but with having to learn lines and with my increasingly heavy rehearsal schedule, this might become a little more of an issue.  I'm going to work on it though.  If I get behind, I will try to catch up when I can.  My goal here is to keep with whatever day I am on and if I have to miss a day, I will just catch up when I have a little extra time (HA!  I'm so optimistic).

My word for 2015 has been "Strength".  I feel like I am really strengthening myself in a lot of ways... spiritually, emotionally and hopefully physically this year.  Stay tuned for a more in-depth post on what strength looks like for me in 2015.

How are you doing with your resolutions/goals for 2015?  Did you make any?  How do you help yourself stay on task?

Week in Review: Week 5/ End of January!

Hooray!  I am happy to say that I successfully completed one full month of FMS Photo-a-Day taking a new photo everyday of the month.  I've done her challenges before, but there's always been at least one archived shot.  Not this month, though!  Waahoo!

Here are some bigger shots of my last week of January.

January 26 - Three Things
Three words that made my day.  My coworker calls me The Queen, because I'm the head secretary/office manager, which means I know everything, right?  He found this little plague and had to get it for me.

January 27 - Morning
This isn't exciting, but this is my normal breakfast most mornings.  I'm not that great at making sunnyside up eggs, but I'm still going to try.

January 28 - Strange
I had no idea what I was going to do for this prompt because my days are pretty routine and there's nothing strange about it... unless you count my coworkers!  Speaking of co-workers, though, two of them both thought my tea infuser from Teavanna was a bell.  I think they thought I was going to start demanding things by ringing a bell for them.  LOL!  I wish that would work!

January 29 - Winter/Summer
Wow!  I was so ecstatic when I walked past my window this morning and saw this GORGEOUS sunrise.  My Facebook feed was blowing up with photos of it, and this is the one I could get.  Despite the house in the way, I'm happy to have captured God's amazing artwork.

January 30 - Favorite Food
Wine isn't a food, but it's definitely one of my favorite things to have with my food, so I say it counts.  Tonight, I was practicing some hygge with a cozy fake fire and a warming glass of wine.

January 31 - On Top
I had some Cool Whip for a dessert I was making this weekend, so I stole a dollop out of it and put it on top of my coffee this morning.  Mmmmm! Yum!

February 1 - On My Plate
I made chicken and biscuits using my crockpot today and it was wonderful!  I wish that I'd made a double batch, because I only have enough for one lunch... so sad.
