Week 30

There was a little scramble to get these photos in this week.  Opening weekend of our annual Shakespeare in the Park performance of "As You Like It" was this weekend, so that means that tech week was all of last week, but it got done and the show was great (despite the rain today.  Our audience members were troopers, though, and our cast did their best to work with the rain).

One more weekend of shows coming up!  Hopefully the weather will be good and the crowds will be responsive.  Until then, we get a week break to recoup and get caught up on our lives before getting back to it.  Even though I'm not generally thought of as the "outdoorsy" type, I really enjoy participating in this type of show.  The style is so different and the weather and crowds keep you on your toes.  It's definitely a unique theatrical experience (that should not be missed, by the way.  Hint, hint.)

Enough of the shameless plugging.  Onto the week in photos.

July 20: Car
It's a little hard to see, but I decided to just sit in my car on my lunch break this day when a freak thunderstorm popped up.  It was a little scary for a couple of minutes with the wind, but it didn't stick around.

July 21: Real
This little bunny likes to pop out from under a bush and watch the final scene of our show.

July 22: Fake
This flower is shaped so perfectly, it almost looks fake.

July 23: Toy
One of my castmates gave everyone little notes with a sheep "toy" attached (because she is a shepherdess in the show).

July 24: Bloom
These pretty pink flowers are getting ready to bloom.

July 25: Two of Us
I've had these two stuffed animals on my bed since college.  They like to be together. :-P

July 26: Negative Space
My yellow lamp gives me a great subject for "artsy" photos.

Well, alrighty then!  I hope you enjoyed my photos and now I am off to have some wine, a snack, and head to bed early.  Have a fantastic week, everyone!

Week 29

It's the week of the show, guys!  It's rained a lot this summer, ruining a lot of our chances to have outdoor practices, but today was HOT and HUMID, but didn't actually rain.  I've also been feeling really cruddy the last week and a half, but today was the first day that I felt normal again.  All this to say that it was an overall good, productive day.

As you might imagine, I've been spending a great deal of time in the park/woods in the past week (when it's not storming, of course), so my photos this week will be very nature related.  Nothing wrong with that, right?

Let's get on with it, shall we?

July 13 - Calm
This photo could go two ways.  This could either look like a very calm woodland scene, or if you're like me, you'd be trying to stay calm as you cross that tiny little bridge.

July 14 - Chaos
Ugh... look at all these dishes waiting to go in the dishwasher.  Looks like chaos to me.
(disclaimer: it only looked like this for a bit.  I don't leave tons of junk in my sink normally)

July 15 - On My Mind
This wasn't taken on this actual day, but today (Sunday) I've been thinking that every rehearsal should include a theatre puppy.  SO CUTE!

July 16 - Starts with "T"
Tree, of course.  I've been surrounded by them of late.

July 17 - Special
I got my first pair of fun wellies this past week.  I sure have needed them during my time with Shakespeare in the Park this year.  Rain, rain, go away.

July 18 - Book
I have been on a reading kick this year, but with the show coming up, I've had to take those chances when I can.  Here I'm waiting for my scene to commence by stealing a few moments to catch up on a book club read.

July 19 - Sign
There are tons of actual signs in the park where we are rehearsing, but these random zodiac signs on a couple of concrete blocks have always interested me.  Perhaps because one of them is a Taurus (my sign).

Well, I'm absolutely exhausted, so I'm going to post this and get to bed.  Have a great week and I'll see you next Sunday!

Week 28

July 6 - My Name
These are my two names.  Throughout my younger life through college, most everyone called me Rainey.  After college, though, I started out filling out applications and audition sheets with my formal name, Lorraine.  Now, it would be safe to say that I hear the name Lorraine way more.  I like both, though, so it's okay.
July 7 - Minimalistic

I don't know.  For some reason, this prompt was a struggle this day.

July 8 - In My Fridge

My fridge is pretty empty right now, actually.  Since I'm only one person, I don't like to keep a ton of food in the house, but I do keep beverages!

July 9 - My Story

I recently started working on my second novel.  I self-published a Young Adult novel a few years ago, but have taken a huge break after starting the idea for the sequel.  I'm now trying to get back in the game and re-reading the previous pages, editing, and coming up with ideas for the rest.  It's definitely fun!

July 10 - Street

On the street where you live.  After so much rain this past month, it is wonderful to finally see blue skies sun in the neighborhood.

July 11 - Late

This is a photo from last weekend at a 4th of July party I attended at a friend's house.  Late in the evening, the guitars, bongos and cowbell came out (along with cell phones for lyrics) and we had a good old-fashioned sing-along.  I love my friends.  (blurred faces for a bit of privacy)

July 12 - Early

A little Bible time early in the morning, even before getting out of bed.

Week 27 - Independence Day

Hi guys!  I hope you all had an absolutely fantastic holiday weekend.  I certainly did!  It was very relaxing and then I went to a pretty great Independence Day party at a friend's house with a whole lot of awesome friends in attendance.  We did normal picnic type things, but then busted out the guitar, bongos and cowbell to sing around the fire pit in the evening.  Yep.  Theatre people sure know how to throw a party.

Anyway, let's move on to Week 27 of FMS Photo-a-Day, shall we?  Yes, we shall... because it's my blog and that's kinda what I do.

Okay, now I'm just being silly.  Moving on.

June 29: Animal
This is Oreo (or at least that's what we've named him).  He's a stray that has been showing up at my parents' place since the winter and has kind of become their outdoor cat.  He doesn't really let anyone near him, but he is getting more comfortable around us, which could be a bad thing because he's getting comfortable enough to try to get into places he shouldn't... like the house.

June 30: Design
I bought some watercolor paints awhile ago, and decided that I should start an art journal in order practice painting.  I am starting small in a 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 book, just enough for small paintings/doodles.  This was my first attempt and I actually really like how it turned out.  My second attempt on the back isn't so great, but it'll help me figure out how to fix mistakes.  Oops!

July 1:  In the House
This photo was actually taken a few days after this prompt at the 4th of July party I attended.  The hosts had a piano and we had a good time after dinner singing and playing (or just cracking up at our lack of lyric knowledge).

July 2: Signed. Sealed. Delivered
I made a bit of a frivolous purchase last week and it finally was delivered to my house.  I've been eyeing these leather notebooks for about 6 months, but kept talking myself out of it because it was a waste of money.  I finally decided to treat myself and as an added bonus, got my nickname inscribed on it. :-)  I was worried I wouldn't think it was worth the money, but so far, it definitely is.  I love it!

July 3: Outing
We have had a ton of rain here the last few weeks, and it sounds like more is in store for us next week.  This is what our local boat launch looks like presently... um... that's not normal.

July 4: Red, White, and Blue
What can I say, nothing says Independence Day like red, white and blue star cookies.

July 5: Me Today
Today (actually tonight) I did a little painting in my new art journal.  I love these colors!
